How TikTok can help elevate your brand

When most people think of Social Media — they think of the ability to show personal photos, life altering moments, and engaging with relatives/friends.

TikTok is the newest platform to the “Digital Ecosystem” and has captured attention from it’s users and businesses equally. Currently, the platform has 130 million users in the U.S. alone! The app is also available in 154 countries globally! [2]

But, as a platform, they have gone an extra step when it comes to attracting their core demographics — both Generation Z and professional brands that might just set them apart:

  • Capitalizing on the “flip arbitarage”: Let me explain. This in simple terms means buying items at a relatively low price and selling it at a higher price — a concept that Gary Vaynerchuk, a Social Media Influencer, often talks about that can bring in disposable income. TikTok has leveraged this within their marketplace where companies are benefiting in two main ways — capturing natural creative talent and using this platform to create unconventional marketing campaigns, both on TV and Social which then may translate into a new target group for future campaigns.
  • 1 Billion Dollar Fund: This fund, according to TikTok was formed exclusively for their user base as an incentive to keep creating valuable content in different forms, while beating their competitors — YouTube Shorts, Instragram Reels, to name a few. [3]
  • Generation Z feature: This is a feature that I think may help TikTok’s identity even more — taking a more proactive approach by educating Gen Z’ers about the importance of working through their recruiting feature — which will bridge the storytelling feature with well-reputed companies. [4]

Yeah, this is great information but if I am an entrepreneur and haven’t heard of TikTok, how can I elevate my brand and use this as a practical marketing channel?

Great question, here are some tips on how TikTok can help grow your brand:

  • Providing Authentic Content rather than Scripted Content: This mainly involves repurposing content in a fun, engaging way rather than taking a serious approach.
  • Using relevant hashtag: As you type in each hashtag, it will show you relevant options along with the number of people using that specific hashtag.
  • Do Demographic Research: Study different demographics and see what engages them and find a way to incorporate this into your overall company strategy.
